Senior PR Account Manager
£30-£35k
Mobius is a fast-growing boutique PR and marketing agency specialising in the performing arts and culture. Offering PR, marketing, London-wide print distribution and digital services to a wide range of clients across the sector, we work with some of the most innovative and exciting venues and companies in the arts in the subsidised and commercial sectors including Park Theatre, London International Mime Festival, Sherman Theatre, Apples and Snakes, The Place and New Diorama, and international companies and showcases such as Pro Helvetia, From Start to Finnish, Theatre Olympics 2023 and A Festival of Korean Dance, and many projects across the UK. Established in 2004, Mobius has established itself as one of the most respected companies in communications for live performance. Based in Bloomsbury, we are a team of twelve, specialising in different areas of marketing and PR.
“A go-to agency who you knew would often work long term with clients and facilitate journalists to learn the different vocabularies being used by different artists… this was a PR company aiming for a much more symbiotic relationship with the independent sector.” Lyn Gardner
This role will be as part of our PR account management team, working with a portfolio of clients and with your own contacts to execute a range of campaigns, alongside the experience and skills of the rest of the team. We’re looking for a proactive, creative individual with a strong entrepreneurial mindset – we’re a boutique agency and our most exciting work often arrives from unexpected sources. We expect the person who takes this job will have a key role in our Edinburgh work – we take an office in Edinburgh for the whole of August, taking a range of clients to the Fringe every year, and your predecessor was our Edinburgh Lead.
We don’t expect you to know everything, and we’d love you to bring your own thinking, knowledge and creativity to the party – we want to hear about things that you think might interest us that aren’t in this spec. While the core of the job is media relations and account management, you might also have skills in other areas of public relations including stakeholder management, crisis comms, and social media and influencer relations.
This is a role ideal for a dedicated, creative and collaborative person with a strong grasp on detail and at least three years of relevant experience, looking for a next step in the arts industry and the opportunity to work with some of best companies in UK performance and the arts. With a small, dedicated team we are looking for a keen individual able to take on projects on their own initiative as well as support the broader work of the company, including line management responsibility.
We see this role as a senior account manager, but would love to hear from people who think they’ll be able to step up in the near future.
We believe in rewarding good work, mutual support and the value of an open and friendly atmosphere where all members of the team are able to offer ideas, take ownership and contribute to the development of our business. Your predecessor in the role is moving to a job at BBC Radio 4 – other members of the Mobius team have gone on to work at Penguin Random House, The Reading Agency and into senior management roles at arts organisations.
The person appointed will need to demonstrate:
• A strong entrepreneurial instinct and proven business acumen
• Strong interest and enthusiasm for theatre and live performance
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• A positive “can do” attitude
• Excellent client management skills
• Proven PR expertise and a track record of success
• Strategic and creative thinking
• Up-to-date experience and knowledge of social media and digital communication techniques
• A high level of self-motivation and the ability to meet demanding targets within tight deadlines
• Experience of managing staff
• The ability to create an open and positive atmosphere in which people can give their best
• Experience of managing a number of different projects effectively
• Good knowledge of the arts in general
