Edinburgh Festival Fringe PR Assistant Job Description 

Job Title: Edinburgh Festival Fringe PR Assistant 

Reports to; PR Account Manager 

Pay; £14.80 per hour (+ 12% rolled up holiday pay) at Real London Living Wage

Dates of work: July; x2 days a week (start TBC) then August 3rd – TBC end of August 

Hours of work: July x16 hours per week approx and August x6 days a week, x48 hours per week approx 

 

Description 

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe assistant is responsible for the admin of our Fringe press office which includes ticketing, coverage tracking and reporting to clients. There is also the potential to pitch to journalists, attend photocalls, broadcast interviews and network at the many events that take place during August.  

This role would suit someone at Assistant – Executive level interested in progressing in a career in PR, and would be a perfect fit for someone who is methodical, has a keen eye for detail and a keen interest in any of the areas of media, events and the arts. Knowledge of the Edinburgh Fringe is a bonus but not essential. You will be reporting into an Account Manager and will help to  oversee our runner.  

Our ideal candidate would be able to start in July working x2 days a week; x1 day a week in our London office and x1 day remotely. The core role will be based in Edinburgh, 6-8 hours a day, 6 days a week from 3rd - 28th August, and accommodation in our large flat in New Town will be provided along with some expenses and the opportunity to see some of ours and other great shows.  

 

Role 

Campaign Support and Delivery 

  • Liaises with venues and clients on booking journalist tickets responding promptly and professionally
  • Checking Red 61 (ticketing reports) thoroughly and transferring data to internal and external Google reports
  • Leads on campaign administration, including:
  • Daily monitoring of online, print and broadcast media of all Mobius shows
  • Compiling and circulating press clippings internally and externally
  • Daily updates to clients with that day’s press bookings and coverage
  • Monitoring the Edinburgh press inbox and flagging any important requests
  • Fields day-to-day enquiries from journalists and clients responding promptly and professionally
  • Spreadsheet management; updating internal and external Google reports and media lists 

Client and Media Relations 

  • Be a welcoming and professional representative of Mobius over email and in person
  • Builds and maintains professional relationships with journalists, influencers, and other external contacts 

Business Culture 

  • Contributes positively to team culture, suggesting ideas that benefit the team and the campaigns
  • Capturing social media content for Mobius social channels 

General 

  • Suggests creative coverage ideas and identifies new contacts to strengthen campaign delivery
  • Maintains awareness of news, trending topics, and developments in the media landscape that could assist pitching
  • Undertakes any other duties reasonably required to support the success of the Fringe campaign 

 

Person specification 

Essential 

  • Previous experience of Red 61 or other box office software
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable and multi-task
  • Can-do attitude
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Good computer skills including Google spreadsheets, Dropbox, Outlook and Slack 

Desirable 

  • Previous press office experience including use of Press Reader
  • Knowledge of the Edinburgh Fringe or fringe theatre, dance and arts scene
  • Knowledge of media especially arts and festival media

Dates of work: August 3rd – 28th approx 

Hours of work: x3-4 hours a day approx 

 

Description 

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe runner is responsible for supporting the admin of our Fringe press office which includes coverage tracking reporting into an Account Manager. There is also the potential to pitch to journalists, attend photocalls and broadcast interviews and network at the many events that take place during August.   

This role would suit someone at the start of their PR career, or who is interested in a career in PR, with a keen eye for detail and a keen interest in any of the areas of media, events and the arts. Knowledge of the Edinburgh Fringe is a bonus but not essential.  

The role will be based in Edinburgh and roughly 3-4 hours a day from 9am – midday/1pm, 6 days a week from 3rd - 28th August, though these may change depending how our campaigns progress.
