Fellowship Square — Waltham Forest Council

PR & Influencer · Waltham Forest Council, East London · 2022

The challenge

Waltham Forest had form for ambition — the borough had been the inaugural London Borough of Culture, and Fellowship Square, a new 15-minute neighbourhood in front of the iconic Town Hall in Walthamstow, was their next statement of intent. The brief was a familiar local authority tension: generate genuine grassroots excitement among residents while projecting the story across London and nationally.

Our approach

We started with the community rather than the headline. Local influencers and resident voices came first — building something that felt real before we tried to make it feel significant. The broader coverage followed from that foundation.

What we did

— Hosted a pre-launch event for local influencers, generating organic reach and community buy-in before the official opening
— Secured coverage on BBC Radio London and multiple features in Time Out
— Placed stories in relevant trade publications to carry the wider placemaking and cultural policy story
— Supported the launch season of cultural programming throughout

Results

The campaign landed on both levels — resonating locally while achieving the London-wide and national profile the Council was after.
